How Much Does Junk Removal Cost in Birmingham?
Junk removal in Birmingham is priced by how much of the truck your load fills, not by the hour and not by the item. Here is what moves that number, and how to get a firm one before we load anything.
The short answer: you pay for space on the truck
Junk removal in Birmingham is priced by volume. The number comes from how much of the truck your load takes up, not from how long the crew is there and not from how many items get counted.
That matters more than it sounds. One person’s five pieces of furniture can fill half a truck. Another person’s fifteen bags of yard waste might fill an eighth. Counting items would price those two jobs backwards. Counting space prices them honestly.
There is no hourly clock, and there is no per-item math.
How the load sizes work
Rather than a price list you have to guess your way into, it is easier to think in load sizes:
- A single item. One appliance, one mattress, or a single piece of furniture. A corner of the truck.
- A small load. A mattress set, a couple of appliances, or roughly a small pickup’s worth.
- One room. A living room set, a cleared bedroom, or one corner of a garage. Around a quarter of the truck.
- A garage or basement. A single-car garage emptied, or a basement cleared. Somewhere between a third and half the truck.
- A whole property. Most or all of the truck.
Whatever the size, the quoted number covers the labor, the hauling and the disposal. Those are not billed separately afterward.
What actually moves the number
How much space it fills. This is the main driver. A single mattress and a full garage are different jobs, and the price follows the volume.
What the material is. Most household and office junk is straightforward. Heavy material like concrete, brick and soil is denser than it looks, and a few items carry a disposal fee we have to pay at the facility.
How hard it is to reach. Curbside is quickest. A third-floor walk-up, a long carry from a back yard, or a tight basement stair takes longer, and the quote reflects the work involved.
When you need it gone. Same-day and next-day slots are usually available at no premium. Tell us the deadline when you call and we will say honestly whether we can hit it.
Why we will not put a price list on this page
Because nobody can judge their own volume from a web page, and a number you cannot check is not useful to you.
What we do instead: you describe the load over the phone and get a free estimate. The crew then looks at what is actually there and gives you a firm number. You approve that number before a single item is lifted. If the job turns out smaller than described, you are not held to the larger figure.
That is the whole mechanism. No estimate fee, no deposit, no pressure to decide on the spot.
Getting an accurate quote in one call
Call (205) 617-4141 and be ready to describe three things:
- What you are getting rid of. Rough categories are fine. Furniture, appliances, construction debris, general clutter.
- Where it is. Ground floor, upstairs, back yard, basement, curbside already.
- What is in the way. Narrow hallways, stairs, a gate that does not open wide, a tight driveway.
Those three answers are usually enough to size the job closely over the phone. If you would rather write it out, send the details to info@alabamajunk.com.
Four ways to keep the cost down
Bundle it into one trip. Furniture from one room and appliances from another, cleared in a single appointment, fills the truck more efficiently than two separate visits. Splitting a job across two days costs close to twice as much.
Bag the loose stuff first. Loose clutter takes up more room than the same material bagged. Doing that before the crew arrives can move you down a load size.
Clear the path. Move obstacles, prop the doors, and roll up rugs. A carry that takes forty-five minutes through a clear path can take twice that through a cluttered one.
Be straight about what is there. An accurate description on the phone means an accurate estimate, and no awkward recalculation in the driveway.
What does not change the price
Distance inside our service area does not. Birmingham, Hoover, Tuscaloosa or any of the other cities we cover, the volume rate is the same and the fuel is already accounted for.
Time of day does not. An early morning slot and a late afternoon slot cost the same.
Season does not. Winter or summer, the rate holds.
Urgency does not, either. A single chair and a full rental turnover run through the same pricing.
